Meredith Holt, a Forum features reporter whose topics of interest include women's issues, social issues and mental health, captured Melanie Carvell’s presentation at the Women’s Health Conference in Fargo in a recent article in the Forum.
Holt opened her article with the two kinds of exercise Carvell promotes for exercise a priority: structured workouts and the unstructured exercise that includes walking the dog or taking the stairs.
Holt writes, “Carvell, a certified Worksite Wellness Consultant, offered a few tips for office workers who spend most of the day sitting. Among them:
• If you're able, stand up during phone calls or ask everyone to stand for the last few slides of a presentation. Just getting up from a seated position can make a difference.
• Take a short walk on your lunch break, walk to the post office, the coffee shop or to do other errands, or suggest a walking meeting.
