In 2013 the Women’s Health Conference featured inspiring stories of role models who work towards health: mental, physical and emotional. Jill LaMont Goetz is a role model in her actions: she encourages us to cherish those around you who are there to support you, cry with you, and lift you up when you need it Jill is a champion for health in the community.
Jill feels truly blessed to be here with us today as a cancer survivor! Jill was diagnosed with colorectal cancer at a young age, and as a single mom of two it was a change that at the time she could not wrap her head around. Now Jill takes one day at a time. She says, "You can’t change the past but you can learn from it and become wiser and stronger for the future."
Jill believes that being diagnosed with cancer was all part of the plan. Jill had been in sales and marketing for 20 years, but her diagnosis has now led her to her job as the Community Relations Manager for the American Cancer Society. She also now serves on the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation Advisory Board as well as being a School Board Member in Mandan.
Jill’s favorite quote comes from the lovely Marilyn Monroe, it says-“Nothing lasts forever so live it up, drink it down, laugh it off, avoid drama, take chances and never have regrets. Because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted.” Jill’s message is to cherish those around you who are there to support you, cry with you, and lift you up when you need it, and to always wear a smile-you never know whose day you might brighten!
