Do you want to learn to run (and walk) more easily, with less injury and with more efficiency and speed? Maybe you’ve tried to start a running program and become discouraged with your ability to sustain it. Or, you’re a walker who would like to add running into her workouts. Do you have goals to improve your running form and race at your personal best?
Join physical therapist and All-American Triathlete, Melanie Carvell, for her Natural Running Workshop on Sunday, May 22 at the Ramada in Fargo, an activity of the Women’s Health Conference.
Melanie combines the latest research with training techniques and proven strength and stability exercises to improve your gait, form and speed. Whether you are a seasoned racer or beginning runner each woman will come away with a training plan to help reach her personal goals. Melanie inspires participants with strategies to bring more purpose to workouts and mental training techniques to improve performance.
For Fargo Marathon participants, the drills and exercise workshop activities are perfect for post-race recovery as there won’t be any serious running during the workshop. Plan to wear comfortable clothes and running shoes. Each participant will leave with great tips to “hit the road running” and a heaping dose of motivation to help tackle your workouts with more purpose, strength, gratitude, and joy.

No salt necessary! Cut down your sodium intake with a splash of lemon, garlic or herbs...
After heart surgery and a few other health scares, my friend now uses Lemon Pepper on everything in place of salt: on pizza, pasta, fruit, in soups, on dine in foods and takeout. It's surprising how wonderful the flavors meld and pop in your mouth! Give it a try!
The following video in an entertaining, and scary look at how sitting ALL DAY LONG has negitive effects on your vascular system, and contributes to Type 2 Diabetes! So how do you combat the scourge of sitting? Here are a few simple steps to take (pun intended).
Stand Up - Simply stand up every hour, walk around for a few minutes, breakout some dance moves, or follow some stretches to wake your body up [find the inspiration for this post and some great resources at Naturally Randy Kay.]
Get A Standing Workstation - Even if you only use it for 10 minutes an hour.
Drink (more) Water - Refresh your body with the liquid of life with the added benefit of HAVING to get up to go the restroom.
Get up to Talk - Not all meetings have to be around a table - schedule a walking meeting, stand-up on phone conference calls, and walk around the house when talking to your sister on the phone long-distance.
Bounce - Place an exercise ball in front of your TV and at your computer desk. Bounce to the beat of your favorite Netflix series.
Park at the Back of the Lot - Incorporate more movement in your day by forcing yourself to move just a little bit more!
Stand When Texting - Make a new habit of standing when responding to a text message. That will be a LOT of standing (not recommended during church, class, or meetings).
